Buccaneer 30 (oz15640)
About this Plan
Buccaneer 30. Rubber cabin sport model.
Planfile includes full build instructions.
Quote: "Building and Flying Instructions: The Buccaneer-30 is the rubber powered version of tie famous Buccaneer series of gas models. The model is simple in structure and design, and should offer no difficulties in construction, even to the beginner. The model has been carefully designed and we do not recommend any structural changes.
Before beginning the construction of the ship, look over the plans and pic-tures to obtain a general idea of the construction. If any difficulties appear, try to construct the model as far as possible. Most of the construction will become clear as your work progresses. In all cases, take your time, making sure that all parts are accurately cut and aligned.
Select a flat board about two feet long and six inches wide for lay out work. A table top or work bench will serve the same purpose. It is best to have a model knife, pliers, and sandpaper handy.
FUSELAGE: The Crutch of the fuselage is constructed first. The top view of the fuselage is used to lay this out. Use 1/8 x 1/4 balsa. Use pins to hold the members in position, but do not stick the pins through the wood itself. After removing the Crutch from the plan, cement the bulkheads to the cross members. Do not cut the stringer notches in the bulkheads until ready to lay each stringer in place. In this way the stringers will fall in their natural position, pre-venting unnecessary stresses in the model.
Before attaching any stringers in place, bend landing gear to shape and at-tach to bulkheads #3 and #4. Insert the rear rubber hook, making sure it is firmly cemented in Place and will not move under the strain of the rubber.
The nose of the ship is covered with 1/20 x 1/4 balsa strips. This will make the nose of the ship rigid and will prevent holes in the covering when handling. The strips should be fitted together as closely as possible, trying to avoid crimps or holes in the planking. Small cracks or open spaces in the planking will not show after the fuselage is covered with tissue.
TAIL SURFACES: The tail surfaces are of simple construction and the drawings are self-explanatory. The stabilizer and rudder should be covered when completed and assembled to the fuselage.
WING: Care should be exercised in building the wing so as to avoid weakness and warping. The spar is made first and is built directly on the front view of the plan. Be sure to assemble with the angles correctly cut at center section. W-3 should be centrally located between the 3/32 x 3/16 spars..."

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
