Micro-E. free flight sport model for electric power with HiLine Micro-4 motor. Wingspan 16 in, wing area 60 sq in.

Direct submission to Outerzone.

Quote: "Dear Mary & Steve, Going some way to answer Gerry De Groot's enquiry concerning Don Srull's Mini E (oz14253) plan, I attach some further information that might be of interest.

The 'Mini-E' was resized in about 4 or 5 versions (to suit Hi-Line electric motors) of varying constructional sophistication dependent on size.

The Micro-E was a 16 in version intended for the Hi-Line Micro-4 electric power system. The catalogue [see supplement file] lists versions in 24, 36 and 42 inch wingspans (Plans PL-01-PL-03, p6). Some sketches in the catalogue give some idea of what they looked like. Maybe that will jog someone's memory? Adrian."

Thank you to Adrian for his scan of the HiLine catalogue, which mentions the 24" span Mini-E.
As a matter of interest, I have built all of these designs except one, the Mini-E. My Micro-E is powered by a Micro-4 brushed motor, flown free flight, as intended. I have built two Imp Sports, one uses an original Imp 30 motor and Nicads, for free flight. The other uses a brushless motor and is radio-controlled. I have also built the 42" span "Elf" with a brushless motor for RC. All models in the series are simple to build and are wonderful fliers.

I have copies of the Mini e for the Highline motor Gerry Groot is looking for. I just finished building one. My first one flew away in the 90’s

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
