About this Plan

Friebe Segler. Radio control sailplane model. Wingspan 2650 mm.

Direct submission to Outerzone.

Quote: "Hi Steve, find enclose all infos for the Dr. Ehrich Friebe glider that was shown on 30th July 1954 in Schkeuditz near Leipzig that time German Democratic Republik, it was the first Radio controlled flight in GDR and an important piece of history in model aviation. That time the Modell could only be steered with the Rudder.

Andreas Lorenz from Dresden spoke to me concerning a redesign and this was the initial start to redesign this plane. It is designed for elevator and rudder and has a towing clutch. Reiner Retzke another vintage pilot wanted ailerons for his version so the option Ailerons is integrated in the plans. So within next time there will be rebuild 2 version, one 2 axis from Andreas and one 3 axis from Reiner.

This will be living history and I‘m looking forward to see these planes in the air at one of the meetings of www.antikmodellflugfreunde.de in 2025. Watch out for schedules next year. :-) Hope to find here more enthusiasts that are interested in this historic piece of model aviation.

Enjoy the plane, have fun and the best flights are still in front of us! Cheers, Matthias"

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
