Cosmic Cloud Mk5 (oz15612)
About this Plan
Cosmic Cloud Mk5. Free flight glider model. Wingspan 33 in.
Quote: "Construction: Wings: Cover the plan with a piece of wax paper, (the inside wrappings of cereal packets are suitable), thus preventing the parts from sticking to it. It is important to build the wings first, in order to allow for the proper allocation of 3/32 x 3/32 strip for the rest of the model.
The wings are made up of three sections; a centre section, and two outer sections. Construction is similar for all three except that the end former on the wing tips is made up from a piece of trailing edge; and that the main spar is cracked so as to join it. The Ribs R1 in the outer sections, and the root ribs R1 in the centre section are canted so as to allow for the dihedral. In order to obtain the correct dihedral angle use the dihedral template provided on the plan, which should be cut out of stiff card.
When the three sections of the wing are ready for assembly, pin down the centre section, and then with equivalent ribs R1 cemented against each other, prop up the wing tips so as to obtain 4" dihedral from the tips to the horizontal. Fit the scrap sheet gussets. Finally sandpaper the completed structure.
Tailplane: A semi-geodetic tailplane design is used so as to obviate the possibility or warping and to provide a very strong structure. Pin the 3/32 x 3/8 trailing edge, and 3/32 x 3/32 leading edges and tip formers T1 over the plan. Fit the 3/32 x 3/32 fin location strut, and finally the diagonal members. Cement the full members in place first the 'cut' members afterwards. Sandpaper the completed tailplane to airfoil section.
Fin: The fin construction is quite straight-forward. Cut out the former R, and build the fin over the plan, using 3/32 x 3/8 trailing edge, 3/32 x 3/32 leading edge, and location strut, and 3/32 x 1/16 cross pieces. Finally sandpaper the completed fin to airfoil section.
Fuselage: Build the first fuselage side over the plan using 3/32 x 3/32 longerons and uprights, and fit the nose former F3. The second side is built over the first, and the two sides are sep-arated using a razor blade after the cement has dried. Fit the nose former F1, 3/32 x 3/32 verticle tail strut, formers F2, F3, F5, then the 3/32 x 3/32 spacers. Take great care to ensure that the fuselage is correctly aligned..."

Fisher, which he first flew in 1957. From 1958 the design was sold as a kit through Peter's company Performance Kits. I have included an advert from Aeromodeller Annual 1959 [pic 003].
Best wishes, Mark"

The box art is absolutely beautiful. Pure, charming and simple 1950-ies style that as a kid would have made me dream for hours.Martin K. - 23/10/2024

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
