About this Plan
Avion. Control line stunt trainer model.
Quote: "Stunt Trainer for 1.5 cc, by Peter Sear. THIS is a lively little flier, whose best performance is obtained when the weight is kept to a minimum, so select a fairly light grade of wood throughout. The original weighs 13 oz and yours should not be more than an ounce over this.
Construction: This is very straightforward, all general building notes being incorporated on the plan. A special point to watch is the bellcrank mounting. Drill the holes through the spars very carefully, after the ply strengthening pieces have been added. Pre-cement all joints, especially at this spot.
Finishing: Give the whole model three coats of clear dope, sanding down between coats. Cover the wing with heavyweight and the fuselage and tail surfaces with lightweight tissue, using either clear dope or tissue paste, according to personal preference. Now give two coats of sanding sealer, rubbing down with flour paper between coats. Add any colour trim required and finally complete with a coat of fuel-proofer.
Flying: First make sure the controls are nice and free - not clogged up with dope - and then give the engine a run-up to be certain that the fuel feed is satisfactory. The Avion flies best on 35 or 40 ft lines.
The secret of smooth manoeuvres is to maintain flying speed - and you will not do this if you just jam on full up elevator and hope for a loop! Fly the model all the way round, keeping your manoeuvres nice and 'open' until you really have the feel of things. Sharp, tricky stunts, and eights from line to line, can come later so walk before you run and you will not be disappointed. Lastly fit that silencer!"

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
