Flying Flea (oz15560)
About this Plan
Flying Flea. Free flight scale model, for rubber power.
Note this kit as sold did not include a plan drawing. The kit came with the physical parts, the instructions, parts ID sheet, some notes, etc, but not any plan in the traditional sense. No general layout drawing. The parts should simply slot together as shown in the instructions. So these files here should be all you need to build the model.

Quote: "Hi, Some time ago I acquired some modelling bits and pieces in old boxes, one box being for the ‘Welcom’ Flying Flea. This kit of die-cut and pre-formed wire parts appears to have been produced in the 1930’s. Alas there was no model in the box but there was the instruction and blueprint sheets.
Using the ‘blueprint’ as a guide I have reproduced the wood parts as near as I can for laser cutting bearing in mind the shapes shown on it for the rib and spar ends are rectangular! No details of sizes, etc. are given on the box lid or plan so I have based the model size on the wing main spar, this being the longest of the die-cut parts. The box is nearly 14” long and my version works out at 11½” span although I suspect the actual model may have been around 13”. Mine can be built using one 36” x 3” x 1/16” sheet of medium soft and 12” x 1½” x 1/16” medium balsa.
Attached are pictures of my prototype [main pic, 003]. As the flying instructions say, the model is very sensitive to trimming but flies remarkably well. I am currently making one for r/c, I’ll let you know if it works! Regards, Rod Moore"

ScaleType: This (oz15560) is a scale plan. Where possible we link scale plans to Wikipedia, using a text string called ScaleType.
If we got this right, you now have a couple of direct links (above) to 1. see the Wikipedia page, and 2. search Oz for more plans of this type. If we didn't, then see below.
Notes:
ScaleType is formed from the last part of the Wikipedia page address, which here is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mignet_Pou-du-Ciel
Wikipedia page addresses may well change over time.
For more obscure types, there currently will be no Wiki page found. We tag these cases as ScaleType = NotFound. These will change over time.
Corrections? Use the correction form to tell us the new/better ScaleType link we should be using. Thanks.

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
