Quote (google-translated): "The M.28 motomodel, designed and built for competitions, has demonstrated its excellent flight qualities by winning numerous competitions. Its construction is not excessively complex, but given the special characteristics of the model it is recommended for model aircraft builders who are already experienced in the work, skilled in the setup and adjustment and familiar with the engine.

The model is medium-sized, with a mixed fuselage with truss and frames, a single-spar parasol wing, a single-wheel landing gear, lifting tailplane and an inverted engine. Extensive use was made in the construction of C-shaped strips that offer high resistance and low weight.

The drawing is sufficiently detailed and is accompanied by full-size construction elements, all the dimensions for the construction and many details seen in perspective; it is a safe guide for the builder.

CONSTRUCTION: The Fuselage: The fuselage must be built on a 'comb' type ramp on which the axis of symmetry and the various widths for the relative sections must be traced (see table). The ramp strips must be placed in such a position as to be tangent to the thickness of the lattice or frames; the dimensions of the drawing provide the centerline of these elements. The lateral longerons No.51 will be mounted first, which will assume the shape of the plan view of the fuselage. The three frames Nos. 41, 5, 3 and 48 and the two gusset plates 65 and 66 will be glued onto them, previously fitted with the relative bolts (see drawing).

Then glue the two upper and lower longerons to the frames, which with their shape will delimit the shape of the side view of the fuselage. Then place the false frame No.49 and, once the glue is dry, apply the strips forming the lattice of the remaining sections. This operation must be carried out with care; the strips must be suitably chamfered so that the gluing is effective, and must be cut in advance to the exact size so as not to stagger the start of the fuselage. Check with the dimensions in the table.

Once the glue has dried, carefully remove the fuselage from the ramp and fix the trolley and the supports for the wing to the respective frames - using ties of thread spread with glue. Then complete the fuselage with the various stiffeners, gussets and braces. A 0 of 2 mm rod. will be fitted and glued between the grooves of the spars No.51 and 52 in correspondence with each truss section to make the system lightweight and non-deformable. The covering must be done with high parchment; it is advisable to cover the area completed between the frames No. 41 and 43 with fabric to make it more robust..."

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
