Note the Super Condor (oz4605) was first published in Flying Models, December 1965. This here is a later version for RC and electric power.

Quote: "Mary, I designed this airplane a few years ago. It's an update of Paul E. Del Gatto's Super Condor 72" sailplane. The kit was sold by American Hobby Center in the 50's and 60's. I always wanted one $1.99 for a 72" glider. I updated the design for electric R/C and improved the accuracy of the formers and ribs. The flying weight is only 6.5 ounces so it's really to be flown in calm weather. I've included a PDF and CAD file. Please add to your great Outerzone site."

Quote: "The fuselage is made using the half shell technique, which make it possible to maintain a highly streamlined shape of maximum strength and lightness.

To begin, pin down all the required keel pieces. Then cement all formers for one half the fuselage in place. Glue the main side stringers which is 1/16 x1/8 strip. When dry, add most of the other 1/16 sq stringers while the shell is still on the board. This will prevent the fuselage warping during completion. When dry, remove the half shell from the plan, trim excess cement and glue the remaining formers to the other side and when nearing completion, add remaining fuselage details such as nose block, stab platform. Add servo tray and pushrods at this time.

The wing is made in four separate panels to accommodate the Gull wing arrangement. A double rib at each junction simplifies the wing assembly and strengthens joints. Begin construction by pinning down the leading and trailing edges for one of the panels. Then cement all the required ribs in place and be certain to angle the ribs as shown at each dihedral joint.

Cement all the top wing spars in the required notches and when dry remove from building board. Then cement all bottom wing spars in rib notches. When all four wing panels are complete and sanded join them together at the proper dihedral angle as shown in the dihedral sketch.

The stabilizer and fin construction are similar with few exceptions. First in the case of the stabilizer, it is constructed in one piece and since the ribs have a flat bottom, the bottom spar can be pinned down in place at the same time the leading and trailing edges are. As for the fin and rudder, it is a flat built-up surface and it utilizes 1/16 x1/8 bracing for ribs..."
