Tipsy S2 (oz15499)
About this Plan
Tipsy S2. Peanut scale model for rubber power. Wingspan 13 in.
Direct submission to Outerzone.
Update 10/9/2024: Replaced this plan with a clearer copy, thanks to Siegfried Glockner. This is a clearer scan, also now shows annotated CG location.
Quote: "Hello outerzone team, My name is Siegfried Glöckner (Germany), I once had drawn the original plan of the Tipsy S2 model in P-Nut size and built the prototype model. The model was entered in an indoor flying contest in august 1994 at Flemalle, Belgium, near the town Liege. During the contest I was asked for a copy of the building plan which existed then only as rough pencil lines to help me to build a prototype. So, I completed the sketch to an inked drawing to make copies. I later blew up the P-Nut plan for a bigger model with 40cm wingspan to be entered in a pure Scale Contest where flying time was not the matter. Important was appearance of the sequences: takeoff, climb, cruise, descent, landing. This 40cm span model was used for the photos taken, because the length of the landing gear is scale.
When I had a look on the Tipsy-S2 plan I noticed that no CG is indicated. A no-go on a plan published by Outerzone. Fortunately, I have the models still in stock. So, I could verify the CG-position at my models to be added on the building plan.
After this modification I noticed that the wingspan is longer than 13 inches on the plan. I remembered this was necessary to get a P-Nut- size wingspan when dihedral is installed. To save modelers seeing an error when studying the plan, I added this hint on the plan at the upper right corner.
These two supplements are indicated by asterisks (*) on the plan. Feel free how you want to use the modified oz15499 plan."

ScaleType: This (oz15499) is a scale plan. Where possible we link scale plans to Wikipedia, using a text string called ScaleType.
If we got this right, you now have a couple of direct links (above) to 1. see the Wikipedia page, and 2. search Oz for more plans of this type. If we didn't, then see below.
Notes:
ScaleType is formed from the last part of the Wikipedia page address, which here is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tipsy_S.2
Wikipedia page addresses may well change over time.
For more obscure types, there currently will be no Wiki page found. We tag these cases as ScaleType = NotFound. These will change over time.

Yet another beautiful, crisp & clean Siegfried Glockner plan. Thank you for posting.Muzaffer Geçim - 27/08/2024
Hello outerzone team, you asked for photos to be joined to the plan oz15499 Tipsy S2 [main pic, 003, 004]. These photos added are scanned from existing photos on paper. I will take photos from the P-Nut and 40cm models which still exist. Due to storage damage the P-Nut Tipsy needs the empennage to be refixed to the fuselage before. For the coloring scheme, I used the Tipsy-S2 aircraft exhibited in the Royal Military Museum Brussels, Belgium. Cordially,

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
