Poole is a master builder/flyer. I'm sure he only chose the Anderson because it's a winner!

The Chicago and California boys have been scaling this design UP for some time and flying it with both electric motors and MVVS diesels.
It's a formidable design!

Anderson Pylon has been popular for a long time. During the days when every SAM flyer thought he knew the absolute high zoot winning engine/airframe configuration, Harry Klarich was willing to cut an Anderson Pylon kit for just that configuration. And if he cut it for one guy, he was happy to sell additional kits to others. At one point Klarich's catalog listed 13 different sizes of Anderson Pylons.

The white Anderson [pic 005] was built from a Klarich kit scaled to 1,500 square inches by Jay Burkart of the Lanzo Airborn Factory.
In the early days of SAM, Anderson Pylons were quite popular.
The design was so popular that Pond entertained the idea of retiring it to a Hall of Fame along with the Dallaire, The Record Breaker, and the Playboy. After the Bomber was introduced in the 80s, seeing these designs would've meant diversity.
The oldest plan I can find comes from John Pond and is now sold by the AMA. It has built up ribs and Pond spelled the designer's name: AndersEn.
I don't know when it was first published and there is so little information available about the designer. Some say he was a friend of Carl Goldberg and was killed in WWll.
I have experience with a couple and I find they fly well. It has a thicker airfoil than the Bomber and the wing is not turbulated. The wing is of a lower aspect ratio. Also, because the fuselage is longer, it has more frontal area thanks to the cross section rule in place at the time ( L² /100)

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
