The Modelair Hummimgbird was widely available here in many NZ small town shops that had a bit of modelling stuff for sale. They usually had a DC Merlin or similar for sale too to put in it, along with dope and diesel fuel etc, so we youngsters in the '60s built lots of them back then.

The Hummingbird is tough and easily trimmed as well as straightforward to build, I still have one I built 60 years ago that I have been flying again in my retirement. It goes just as well as it ever did although it has been repaired, reengined and recovered over the years, as well as spending many decades in the back of the workshop gathering dust and cobwebs, It still amazes me how many are still in use for events like 1/2 hour Aggregate (Scramble?) at our Nationals. Many are DT equipped for accurate duration timing and have a great starting Mills 0.75 on the front. They always seem to survive the 1/2 Hour thashing.

The red one [main pic] is mine and friend, John Ryan, supplied the picture of the 3 different configurations, high, shoulder and low wing [pic 003] that can be built from the plan and RC equipped. He makes the point that a bit less dihedral is a good idea on RC versions as it makes them more manageable on rudder elevator. All seem to work well.
