Gatow Delta (oz15424)
About this Plan
Gatow Delta. Radio control sport model. Delta pusher layout. Wingspan 835 mm. For 3.5 to 5 cc engines.
Quote (google-translated): "Construction: Cut out and prepare the ribs. Bevel the front and rear edges according to your plan, make the cutouts for the upper and lower main spars and cut out the cutouts for the front nose spar in rib (1) and rib (2).
First, the side board of the fuselage is prepared. To do this, the plywood reinforcement (12) for the engine and tank compartment is glued on according to the plan and, if possible, pre-bent at the same time. This is very simple. If you lay the side board flat on the construction board, then on the rear edge where the plywood reinforcement is glued on the opposite side, place an approximately 5 mm thick, diagonally sanded auxiliary strip underneath and place the reinforcement on top, adding glue and clamping it onto the construction board. The bend that now forms in the rear part of the side wall will remain afterwards.
The assembly takes place on a flat construction board. You will get a completely straight and distortion-free wing if you proceed according to the following method: Mark the exact center of the leading edge, trailing edge and ribs. Staple the side board vertically onto the plan according to the plan. Place an auxiliary strip between ribs (5) and (6), 30 mm high under the leading edge (9), 31 mm high under the trailing edge (10).
Glue rib (1) exactly in the middle onto the side board (7) using contact adhesive. Note the center line on the rib and side wall. Stick rib (2) onto the leading edge. Push the leading edge and trailing edge through the side board. Staple the other end to the auxiliary strip. Check the exact fit with the angle, glue the ribs, insert the upper main spar and the leading edge of the 'slat' and glue them on. The left and right wing halves can be built at the same time. The frames (14, 15, 16) are inserted at right angles between the fuselage side walls and glued together with the engine support plate (13) and the lower tank compartment floor (23). Glue the spars well in the middle between the fuselage side walls at the top and bottom with the plywood connectors (17, 18, 19). The planking can then be applied. Attach the edge arch (25). The four glue strips (20) are glued to the front of the fuselage side walls and, after the glue has hardened, pulled together at the front according to the shape and glued to the front fuselage frame (21). The solid fuselage head is also glued (22) can now be glued on. This construction results in a very robust fuselage nose that can withstand even very hard stresses.
The fuselage can now be planked on the underside. The grain of the planking runs across the fuselage's longitudinal axis. Additional plywood reinforcement can be glued in the area of the receiver compartment..."

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
