About this Plan

Cloudbuster 48. Radio control sport model, for electric power. Wingspan 48 in, wing area 360 sq in.

Quote: "I have been a fan of Domoremath on YouTube for several years. He builds rubber powered RC models and flies them in a small park in New York City. I was inspired to build several old rubber models but powered by small electric motor and lipos.

In 2020 I built a 32” version of the Comet Cloudbuster (RC Groups Dec. 15 2020). The plan is also in Outerzone see Cloud Buster (oz12749). It few so well that I decided to increase the size by 50%. This was accomplished by scaling the 32” version by 1.5 resulting in 3/16” balsa instead of 1/8” ¾” trailing edge instead of ½” etc.

The resulting model was very easy to build and is a great flyer.

The Cloudbuster 48 has a minimum of pieces to cut. There are only eight diferent wing ribs wings tps stab and rudder parts and a few fuselage formers. The rest is primarily 3/16” sq. balsa. The fuselage is about as big as it could be using 48” long. 3/16” sq. balsa. This is a big model.

The fuselage sides are built over the plan just like when I was a kid. I used Titebond for almost all assembly. The formers and crossmembers are added while the sides are pinned vertically over the plan. I fitted a 1/64” plywood magnetc hatch and sanded the fuselage ready for covering. I finally added the 1/64” ply bottom and the landing gear.

The wing stab and rudder are simple assemblies. I actually build the laminated wing spar over the plan as the first step in wing constructon. Add the trailing edges ribs and leading edges..."

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
