Ranger Mk1 (oz1530)
About this Plan
KK Ranger. 24in span class A C/L team racer for motors up to 2.5cc.
Quote: "Controline enthusiasts everywhere have long since acclaimed the RANGER as the top kit design for class 'A' team racing - its easy handling characteristics and 'real aircraft' appearance having made it justly famous at contests up and down the country. Construction is very simple - the fuselage being built up on a basic crutch and afterwards planked. The wing is flat sectioned, features upper and lower spars and is built flat on the plan. Tailsurfaces are ready-shaped from sheet. The well detailed plan shows four different engine installations and drawings for making a neat 15 cc fuel tank.
SPECIFICATIONS: Span 24 in. Wing area 88 sq in. Length 18 in. Weight 10 oz. Complies with SMAE Class A team racing formula. Designed to take ED Bee, Elfin 1.49, Elfin 2.49, Allbon Arrow, etc. Also suitable for Allbon Spitfire. "
Quote: "The RANGER is a rugged, easy-to-build team racer which complies with the SMAE Class A specifications - which calls for a minimum wing area of 70 square inches and a maximum engine capacity of 2.49 cc. The construction has been carefully planned to ensure quick and easy building. Even if this is your first controliner, you should experience no difficulty providing you follow the plan and these instructions carefully.
Like all Keil Kraft power kits, several alternative engine installations have been detailed on the plan. It is essential that you decide on the powerplant before starting to buildthe model. The bearer positions are marked on formers F4 - F8 to suit the Elfin 1.49, ED Bee and the Allbon Arrow (also Javelin). On the Elfin 2.19 version, the bearers are lowered and spaced wider apart... "
Planfile includes detailed build instructions.
Note this is the earlier version of the KK Ranger. For the later model with 'inline engine' styling, see Ranger Mk2 (oz1371).

I wish that I had seen this download asI have had to plot the part profils myself. Having made one in my youth, ED Bee powered, I was keen to see if it would handle a 2.5 cc motor. I have a ED Raver that I modified with PAW piston/cylinder. Should make an interesting combination?Bob Taylor - 17/06/2022

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
