Bangau (oz15218)
About this Plan
Bangau. Radio control sport model, for electric power. Twin canard seaplane layout. Wingspan 41 cm. Uses foam construction.
Quote: "Welly Aiden’s Bangau.
As you can see in the You Tube video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4CWXH7gHdfE Welly’s model was assembled for foam food containers. The thickness of these food containers vary. About 2 mm foam would be a good approximation. The motors appear to be about 8 mm diameter cordless motors driving 7.5 cm. propellers. The battery pack is 450.
Before viewing the video, I had no idea that only controlling the motors could produce such dramatic flights.
Assemble the model with glue. Note that the lower surface of the model fits onto the bottom edge of the sides and the upper surfaces fit inside the upper edges of the sides. The dihedral for the wings and canard are shown on the front view.
Reinforce the foam leading edges of the wings and canard to avoid dings. The spar/stiffener location for the wing is shown on the plan. I am pretty sure Welly used bamboo for the spar/stiffener and leading edge reinforcement but other available wood would work as well.
The motor nacelle pattern is shown on the plan, note that the wing slot should be cut last since its length will vary depending on motor length and the taper of the wing.
The wings are held in place by rubber bands. The rubber band pegs should be reinforced with wood or plastic to avoid tearing the foam at those locations.
No interior details are shown because they will vary depending on radio and battery size used."

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
