About this Plan

Shangri-La. Control line stunt model.

Direct submission to Outerzone.

Quote: "Dear M&S, I send you the plan for the control line stunter SHANGRI-LA, a competition machine designed and flown during the seventies by the Italian champion Claudio Orsini... this is a good quality plan I've downloaded from the web years ago, but I don't remember which site was from.
I enclose a photo [see pic 003] of this real beauty taken from the book 'Volando in Cerchio' (Flying in circles), by Franco Bugada and Carlo D'Agostino, currently published by FIAM - Federazione Italiana Aero Modellismo.
Best regards,
Armando Argano"

Update 19/11/2024: Added later article from Modellismo, thanks to Pit.

Shangri-La was made in different versions and the "a la Crusader fuselage" plan was marketed by Aeropiccola too. This is the 1966 version with detachable wing. Pit

Have changed the pics around, thanks to Pit. It seems pic 003 is of a later version with bubble canopy. The main pic here now shows the 1966 version (photo from the book "Il libro dell'aeromodellista" by Aeropiccola).

Also added pic 004 thanks to Pit, showing how the wing is detachable.

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
