Quote: "T-10 CONSTRUCTION NOTES: Following are some notes about the construction of the BRIDI HOBBY ENTERPRISES TRAINER .10.

Originally developed as the RCM Trainer 60 (oz7802), the design was first reduced to make the RCM Trainer 40 (oz6465). Then came the Trainer 20 (oz7631). With this kit the plane has shrunk further to offer an easy building, fun flying ship good for the club runway or the local football field or park.

Before you begin building, we recommend you read through the construction notes, checking out the parts as you go. As you do so you'll note that we haven't said much about installing the radio and servos. If you've done it before, you know what to do. On the other hand, if this is your first ship, you had better get some help in installing your particular set-up. Or, get yourself a copy of RC Modeler Magazine's FLIGHT TRAINING COURSE Vol I for a detailed discussion of how to go about it.

BUILDING THE WING PANELS: Cover the plans with some plastic kitchen wrap. Cut the spar to length and pin it down over the plans. Lay down the bottom center section sheeting, cross grain, and glue it to the spar. Glue in the two smaller center section ribs and the remaining larger ribs. Cut the leading and trailing edge stock to length and glue them to the ribs and bottom center section sheeting. Add the top center section sheeting and triangular stock wing tip. Sand the leading edge, tip, and sheeting as necessary. Just round the trailing edge.

That completes the right wing panel. To build the left wing panel we recommend turning the plans over and wiping some light oil on the surface in the area of the wing plan so it becomes transparent. Cover the plans with some kitchen wrap and build up the left wing panel as you did the right one.

A wedge shaped piece is supplied in the kit to provide the proper dihedral when the wing panels are joined. Use 5 minute epoxy to glue the wedge shaped piece to the root of one wing panel. The thicker side of the wedge shaped piece should be aligned with the bottom of the wing. After the adhesive has set up, cut and sand the piece roughly to the wing contour. Then apply 5 minute epoxy to the other side of the wedge shaped piece and the root rib of the other wing panel and join the wing panels. Make sure that the leading and trailing edge of both wing panels are properly aligned and that you have the proper dihedral. Cover the wing center section with a 2 - 3in width of three to four ounce glass cloth and resin or with Celastic.

BUILDING THE STAB: Easy job. Butt glue the forward and rear stab pieces together. Wipe off any excess glue that squeezes out of the glue joint. Let it dry while pinned down to your flat building board. Sand the top, bottom, and leading edge to shape.

BUILDING THE FUSELAGE: Follow the construction sequence we've outlined as one way to get your fuse built quickly, easily, and straight. First lay both fuselage sides on your work bench with the straight edges almost touching. That way you'll be sure to prepare one right and one left piece. Working carefully, use the 1/8 ply bulkhead #1 as a spacer to locate and glue the fuel tank compartment doublers in place on the in-side of the fuselage sides... "

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
