Vega Termik (oz14924)
About this Plan
Vega Termik. Radio control sailplane model. Wingspan 2500 mm.
Note this kit included a ready-formed glassfibre fuselage
Quote: "Vega Termik. Order number 2015. This model is recommended for model builders who have some experience with building simpler models. Due to its flight characteristics, it is suitable for training in the control of RC models as well as for recreational and recreational flying.
MODELLING: We carefully cut out all pre-printed balsa and plywood parts. The openings and cutouts in component 4 (servo beds) are adapted to the type of servo component being used. An epoxy resin adhesive should be used to glue individual components to the fuselage shell made of glass fiber laminate and to glue together parts subject to more stress. The remaining wooden and plastic components of the kit are glued together using nitrocellulose glue,
WING: Tubes 90 and 91 are made from strips of the covering paper (skin paper). The paper is wound directly onto the connecting wires 88 and 89 (approximately 8 layers) and thoroughly soaked with the adhesive during the winding process. After winding, the pipe is immediately removed (stripped) and we let it dry out.
The plastic ribs are removed from the press frame and their inlets are cleaned. The enclosures for the connecting wires are glued together from the plywood parts 92 and 93 and the tubes 90 are glued into them.
The wing is assembled component by component - the inner and outer parts (so-called 'ears') separately. The individual wing parts are built in an otherwise usual way. Particular attention is paid to careful assembly and gluing of the mottled wing part.
The main support is stiffened in the middle by strips 63. The borders of the connecting wires are glued between the main support strips with epoxy resin adhesive. The drain strip consists of two balsa strips 82 and 83 that are glued together and ground conically on the inside to a width of 14 mm (see drawing - section D-D). The strips of the drain strip are attached to the rippers using nitrocellulose glue, both strips are glued together using epoxy resin glue. In order to achieve a more precise shape of the profile blue part, the wing is placed with the 'back' when gluing the drain edge on the worktop (see picture 1). Between the skin of the inlet and outlet strips, balsa strips are glued to the ribs from above and below. A stiffener 84 is glued between the strips of the main beam at the wing break line. A balsa edge is attached to the end rib 79 using adhesive and then ground into the desired shape. The middle plywood rib 65 is centered on the edging openings using connecting wires and secured with epoxy resin adhesive. Overhanging edges are then trimmed according to the profile shape..."

I have great love for this model because it was my first RC glider. Since I'm from the Polish lowlands, I had to buy an auxiliary engine. I installed Enya 1.62ccm 09TV without RC system. Although it has a carburetor, the lever is permanently attached. Enya lifted the glider to a height, then the fuel ran out and the glider had to rotate the floating elevator and rudder in thermals. This model escaped me once... I lost sight of it at a very high altitude... I just looked at my watch and the model simply disappeared. Even though I couldn't see the model, I had to make it rotate, i.e. very slightly downwards, and tilt the wing. I even went to a clairvoyant who told me that the model was lying in a plowed field and people were passing by but they couldn't see it! I was looking for Vega for a week and I actually found it. She was lying in an undulating field plowed high especially for growing trees. Using binoculars, I only noticed the tip of the white and red rudder and that was enough. The model lay about 800 meters from the start. Now I have Vega as a distinguished model. The center of the wing is a bit broken, but it's still there. My father, who passed away last year, also loved going on flights in this model.A very successful Czech design.

The Vega glider was also my first RC model. But I had the first version, it had a wing cut out of styrofoam and covered with veneer. The Vega Thermik was an improved version with a structural wing.

Hello, Here are some photos about the RC Vega Termik (CZ) glider model [pics 003-007] that I would like to share with the modeller group Outerzone. Best Regards, from Gniezno, Poland.

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
