About this Plan

Susi 2. Radio control sailplane model. All-sheet balsa construction with Jedelsky-style wing. Wingspan 1500 mm.

Quote (google-translated from the German): "Construction instructions for the glider model 'SUSI 2': With the Susi construction kit you have acquired a model that, despite its simple construction, has excellent flight characteristics and performance. Be it high take-off or slope sailing - you will be able to compete with much larger and more complex models everywhere.

The 'Susi 2' type has some significant improvements compared to its predecessor Susi (oz11663), which further simplify the construction of the model and the glass cabin makes the model even more beautiful. You will have fun building it. The shell of the model will be finished in just a few hours and then just needs to be painted, because there is no need for a covering with this modern construction method. I don't want to curb your drive with a lengthy construction manual. I would just like to give you a few tips on how to get to your goal as quickly as possible .

The first and most important tip is this: pay attention to the numbering of the parts. ALL PARTS ARE NUMBERED IN ORDER OF MOST CONVENIENT ASSEMBLY!

First, the fuselage side walls 1 are placed on the plan, if necessary the contours are reworked a little and the position of the jaw strips 2, 3 and 4 is marked. Then place the side walls on top of each other and glue the pine strips onto the outside of each, which you press down with clothespins. In this way you automatically get a left and right side wall that are exactly congruent. While it is drying, saw the frames 6, 7 and 8 out of the pre-cut plywood board and glue the frames 9, 10, 11 and 12 together from balsale strips 3 x 5 mm with UHU-hard directly on the construction plan. You can place a piece of plastic film underneath to prevent the strips from sticking. Pins hold the sea ducks in their layer until they are completely dry.

Now attach the fuselage base 5 to the plan and glue the frames 6 to 12 exactly vertically to the intended location. After drying, fuselage side panels No. 1 follow.

If your model is to be equipped with a pendulum elevator, work now with the expansion kit, order no. 1126, continued. During the dry season, glue the vertical tail together again on the Souplan, which consists of parts 14, 15, 16 and 20. After drying, this vertical tail is glued well to the bottom of the fuselage and to the side walls. Make sure that the vertical tail is exactly vertical! The side rudder consists of parts 17 and 18. The rudder horn 18 must be glued very well, then a cut is made from the front into the rudder with the balsa knife and a nylon hinge is inserted. Do the same thing on the gel side, bar no. 14. The rudder is secured with pieces of matchstick stuck across. The tailplane support No. 21 must also be glued on at exactly a right angle, otherwise the horizontal tailplane will sit at an angle.

If the model is equipped with a remote control, it is recommended to lay the outer tube of Bowden cable No. 44 in the fuselage before gluing on the fuselage cover 22. The plastic tube can be fitted with Stabilit or UHU-coll, or Ponal, on the frames and backwards when breaking through the fuselage side wall. Other adhesives should not be used..."

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
