About this Plan

Silentius 86. Radio control sport model, for electric power using geared Speed 600 motor. Wingspan 2000 mm.

Direct submission to Outerzone.

Note the plan shows options to build the model as either a powered or un-powered glider.

Note see online article "The History of Electric Flight Part II: The steady evolution of electric RC gliders at Graupner" by Mike Goulette at: for some good background on the development history of this model.

Quote: "For the 25th anniversary of Fred Militky’s original free-flight Silentius (oz12381) kit release Graupner brought out the two metre wingspan Silentius 86 electric RC glider. This used a newer version of the geared Mabuchi motor running on seven cells, simpler construction than its predecessors and a modern lower cambered wing section. Altogether, a very practical model. At the first electric World Championships in Belgium in 1986 the Graupner display team had a fleet of these models in identical colour schemes and displayed them to great effect..."

Did we get something wrong with these details about this plan (especially the datafile)? That happens sometimes. You can help us fix it.

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
