Mini Chevron Mk2 (oz14855)
About this Plan
Mini Chevron Mk2. Radio control sport pattern plane. Wingspan 53 in, for .40 engines.
Note seen here as distributed in Germany by Lanitz (LMB).
Quote (google-translated from the German): "Distributed by LMB. MINI CHEVRON Mk.2"
Introduction: The MINI CHEVRON Mk.2 is a smaller version of our Speedfire for engines of 6.5 cc. It is fully suitable for aerobatics. The cabin is already molded to the fuselage for stability reasons. This makes remote control installation much easier.
Although the model with a 6.5 cc engine can be flown quite fast, it can be flown quite slowly when landing, thanks to the progressive profile (semi-symmetrical at the root, fully symmetrical at the edge arc).
Please read the construction instructions very carefully and familiarize yourself with them. We recommend white glue and polyester glue or epoxy glue such as Devcon as glue. Unless otherwise noted, white glue should be used.
Fuselage Contruction:
1) The motor mount is drilled through on the back wall at the marked points with a 3.5 mm drill. It is aligned according to plan on the motor frame 1. 2.5 mm holes are drilled into the engine frame at the appropriate points on the engine mount. Drill additional holes in the engine frame for the throttle linkage, the fuel supply to the engine and the refueling port for the aerobatic tank. The motor frame is made with Tufkote order no. 05 39 impregnated.
2) The two bearing blocks for the nose gear are attached to the rear of the engine frame using countersunk head screws. The protruding edges of the lower bearing block are cut off.
3) The engine mount is drilled according to the holes in the engine flange so that the propeller driver protrudes approx. 3 mm from the nose of the fuselage. The engine frame is installed as planned.
4) The right side of the fuselage nose is cut out for the engine according to the sketch. The opening can be enlarged later if necessary.
5) The engine frame is glued in using polyester glue. It is additionally reinforced with an approx. 13 mm wide glass fabric strip from the front and back. The glass fabric strip is also attached with polyester glue. Let dry. The engine and engine mount are now removed again.
6) The two horizontal stabilizer parts 13 and 14 are glued together. Part 16 is inserted into the horizontal stabilizer as planned for reinforcement. The edge sheets consisting of 6 x 6 mm balsa are attached. After drying, the horizontal stabilizer is sanded.
7) The vertical stabilizer is glued together from parts 5 and 7 as planned. After drying it is sanded.
8) The horizontal stabilizer is glued to the fuselage with polyester glue. For this purpose, it is recommended that the surface of the tail unit support of the fuselage be slightly roughened. The vertical stabilizer is glued to the horizontal stabilizer with white glue. Where it comes into contact with the hull, it is glued with polyester glue.
9) The vertical stabilizer transitions to the horizontal stabilizer are cut and sanded to fit. Then they are glued in.
10) The tail skid 6 is glued under the fuselage with polyester glue. It must be aligned with the vertical stabilizer.
11) Frame 2 is inserted into the fuselage as planned using polyester glue. It is used to hold the wing dowel. It may be necessary to re-sand the fuselage on the front side of frame 2 to ensure a better fit of the wing under the fuselage..."

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
