Piper Cherokee (oz14831)
About this Plan
Piper Cherokee. Radio control scale model. Wingspan 1.72 m, for .55 to .90 engines.
Direct submission to Outerzone.
Quote: "This is a semi scale model of the Piper Cherokee as designed in the mid 80s by a Colombian very talented modeller and also an AVIANCA commercial airline pilot called Capt. Gabriel Ferro Pardo. He was also one of the pioneers aeromodellers in Colombia and an extremely enthusiastic and very nice person. He was an expert designer and won several local contests both pattern and scale. This particular Cherokee was one of two models he expressly designed for our local modellers, easy to build and excellent flyer. The other model was a Cessna Cardinal but I have not been able to get a copy of the plan to restore it. Unfortunately, Capt. Ferro passed away in 1992 and the plan was lost. Only recently it was recovered in a very bad shape so I decided to restore it and give it a little update. Since it has no 'copyright' as far as I know, I decided to publish it in Outerzone under the good offices of Steve and Mary not only for the benefit of worldwide modellers but also as a homage to Capt. Ferro, a chap we will always remember. Naturally the plan is in Spanish and with metric sizes but I think any expert modeller can build this model easily. Greetings from Bogotá and all the very best to all. EDUARDO"

ScaleType: This (oz14831) is a scale plan. Where possible we link scale plans to Wikipedia, using a text string called ScaleType.
If we got this right, you now have a couple of direct links (above) to 1. see the Wikipedia page, and 2. search Oz for more plans of this type. If we didn't, then see below.
Notes:
ScaleType is formed from the last part of the Wikipedia page address, which here is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piper_PA-28_Cherokee
Wikipedia page addresses may well change over time.
For more obscure types, there currently will be no Wiki page found. We tag these cases as ScaleType = NotFound. These will change over time.

This particular Cherokee [main pic, 003-005] was built by Mr. Álvaro Chacón in 2011 and it is still flying. The photos were taken at the Club Colombiano de Aeromodelismo headquarters called "ElMorado'' located at about 50 kilometers north of Bogotá. It has an OS .91 engine needed due to our high elevation of 2.650 meters above sea level. It is all balsa except the cowling and canopy. Fantastic performance and very attractive model. Very popular in our country mostly for Senior Pattern contests because it has a fantastic performance similar to a Kaos or Kwik Fli. Best wishes to all from La Calera, Colombia EDUARDO.Eduardo - 28/09/2023

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
