Quote: "Hi Mary, thank you very much for your attention. I'm very glad so I'll share my 45 inch PA plan and pics too [main pic, 003-007].
I've been building and flying model airplanes since late fifties my dad was an active U/C flier so I inherited the bug. My very first Ukie was a Cox Spitfire and upgrade to a Junior FliteStreak and to my dad’s Super Ringmaster. After several years I moved to R/C but somewhere in the way I caught F/F and I was hooked! My first try was a Pacific Ace (oz863) that flew only fairly well (my own fault) and I kept building and flying others designs. One day, reasoning bigger flies better I drew plans for a 45 inch wingspan Pacific Ace, (of which I sold a bunch of copies through Model Builder and Flying Models Magazine.)
I tried to keep weight to a minimum, fuselage longerons 3/32 balsa, wing ribs 1/16, stab and rudder 1/32, all outlines laminated balsa, wheels were made from foam plates. Wing airfoil was undercambered not any in particular but something I drew that looked right for me, I couldn't compare with others but the PA flew very well so I didn't bother to build another wing, but anyone building this can use a flat bottom section.
Whenever was reasonable I favored all-flying stabs and this wasn't exception as it was appropiate for the dethermalizer I designed for this airplane and it is shown in plan. Again anyone can choose a one-piece conventional flat stab if desired.
I covered the fuselage with thin silkspan and Japanese tissue for wings and tail feathers, lettering was cut from jap tissue also. The folding prop dimensions were calculated from wing area. The result was a very light airplane, a great design that gave me long long chases."

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
