About this Plan

XP-54. Radio control sport-scale model. Wingspan 1700 mm, for electric power.

Note the 'original' drawing here is the CAD zip download (in dwg format). That's the file that Giuseppe sent us, and that is his design, his work. The PDF file you see here is really just a taster, a PDF file in this slot for Oz users who don't have a CAD viewer.

Direct submission to Outerzone.

Quote: "Hi Mary, A semiscale rendition, but dimensions are fully scale, of a strange American experimental airplane XP 54 Swoose Goose.

Despite its strange configuration the model is very stable and easy to fly provided that you always remember that wing loading is a bit on the high side. It is powered by a 500 KV electric motor with 1250 Watt on a 6 cells 5200 mAh pack.

The drawings, while complete, have no captions but, being this a not straightforward construction, I think that experienced builders will have no problem to choose the right material for every component that are mostly 3 mm poplar ply, 3 and 2 mm balsa sheet. Ciao,"

ScaleType: This (oz14676) is a scale plan. Where possible we link scale plans to Wikipedia, using a text string called ScaleType.

If we got this right, you now have a couple of direct links (above) to 1. see the Wikipedia page, and 2. search Oz for more plans of this type. If we didn't, then see below.

    Notes:
ScaleType is formed from the last part of the Wikipedia page address, which here is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vultee_XP-54
Wikipedia page addresses may well change over time.
For more obscure types, there currently will be no Wiki page found. We tag these cases as ScaleType = NotFound. These will change over time.

Piano Straordinario! Wonderful Aircraft, thanks for sharing. It is one of those you look at again and again until you start building.
Cheers Matthias

Just wow

Beautiful work. I'd also like to point out in the main pic it looks like Bruce Springsteen has taken up RC models. I can think of no higher praise.

Don Beppe hits it again :) 38 plans listed so far in the OZ and counting, each finely designed! Nobody can complain about tail heaviness in this one, with that Pinocchio nose :)

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
