Quote: "Introduction and General Instructions: Welcome to the wonderful world of giant-sized airplanes. If this is your first experience with large gasoline-powered aircraft, your decision to start this project will start you on the way to the most realistic, prototypical, and cleanest type of RC aviation developed at this time. For those already into giant scale, you will find the aircraft a delight to build and fly.

I have endeavoured to bring you an effortless building experience, and if you follow the instructions to the letter, you will be rewarded with a light, stable, strong, yet fully aerobatic sport aircraft. PLEASE do not substitute wood sizes or add beefing as this design has been fully tested by building and flying several prototypes. Adding additional construction only tends to increase weight and reduce performance. The aircraft as designed is completely airworthy and will withstand any type of manoeuver other than a crash. The prototype is still in existence, and performing aerobatics after hundreds of flights where the pilot rarely completed a lap without completing some aerobatics.

The construction is designed to suit the average builder. Even a beginner will find building this airplane not difficult to accomplish. The 'Special' in the low wing mode, handles like a Kaos (oz6251), and as a biplane similar to an Aeromaster (oz1971). Flying the Special is similar to flying the above airplanes, but at a less hectic pace. You will find that you have more time to think during a manoeuver. This type of flying is very close to full-sized aircraft performance. After a few flights you will think you are in the cockpit, flying through the pattern and feeling the G forces yourself.

Before starting you must decide on the type of aircraft you want. I suggest you build the fuselage with the biplane cabane mounts installed in any case. You can then utilize the convertable feature of the airplane by changing to a monoplane or a biplane at will.

Aeromodelling tools are used throughout. Try to cut all the parts, obtain all the stripwood, and various adhesives before starting any part of the construction. These adhesives were selected for maximum strength and ease of construction.

Don't apply extra glue. You will obtain the desired flying weight of 17 to 18 lbs by following to the letter these instructions. Nuff said, now let's get into action.

Start with the tail assembly first. You cannot complete the fuselage without installing the completed tail unit..."

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
