Any idea what the design date of this model is? Might be a fun old-time rubber ship for FAC if it was created prior to 1946.

I'm not at all sure. I would guess, if the CB model numbers ran in logical date order, then this CB 10 must have come before the CB 20, which we have dated as 1939.

It was no later than April 1939.
A "Batir" ad is on the back cover of the magazine "Le Modèle Réduit d'Avion" issue # of April 1939 shows its bare bones [pic 003].

See: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chalange_et_Bonnet - if i correctly translate 1942 catalogue extract 1942 it's prior of this date. It's a speed category rubber powered.
Enjoy

Thanks much all - that should be sufficient date documentation to qualify it for FAC old time rubber.

Did you have a good look at the "propeller" part? Take a good look ;-)

The counter rotating prop looks intriguing. I wonder if the Lego Technics differential (item #5229 Gears & Differential) would fit in it for the counter rotating gearing?

The same system as in the Macchi-Castoldi MC 72 (oz11795).

Am setting the date on this listing as 1939, for now. If more info comes along, will change this to be more exact.

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
