Quote: "Here is a really good one. This is the Joy Model Products RC Mars, the predecessor to the current vintage Balsa USA Excalibur. This kit was produced by Joy Model Products in the early 1970s and was the first iteration of what later became the BUSA Excalibur. It is a slightly different model than what is offered today with the Excalibur. Joy was originally purchased in 1968 by Ron Busch, the founder of Balsa USA. Ron was a lifelong modeler with a passion for Control Line.
The RC Mars was a nod to an earlier control line model called the Mars (oz1604) that was designed by Bob Palmer. Ron's RC version continued as the company transitioned to Balsa USA and was somewhat modified in the mid 1970s. With those changes it became the Excalibur that is still offered in the BUSA vintage kit line up today.
I acquired the very rare original Joy kit recently and wanted to share the original Joy plans that came in the kit."
Note pic 006 appears in a magazine dated March 1971.

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
