About this Plan

Messerschmitt Me 109. Dime scale model 16in span, scale fighter Me109. Comet kit no A37.

Update 13/07/2014: Have rescaled the printwood on this one down, to fit against the plan at 16in wingspan, thanks to RayD.

Update 17/07/2014: Replaced by a clearer copy thanks to pd1, with all formers checked.

Update 24/04/2019: Replaced this plan with a clearer version, scanned at 600 dpi, thanks to GuyColeman.

Quote: "Dear Steve and Mary, Please find attached a much higher resolution and clearer copy of the Me109 plan. I scanned this myself and took care to ensure it is free from any distortion, as most of those circulating on the internet are not straight at all. Best regards, Guy"

    ScaleType: This (oz145) is a scale plan. Where possible we link scale plans to Wikipedia, using a text string called ScaleType.

    If we got this right, you now have a couple of direct links (above) to 1. see the Wikipedia page, and 2. search Oz for more plans of this type. If we didn't, then see below.

    Notes:
    ScaleType is formed from the last part of the Wikipedia page address, which here is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messerschmitt_Bf_109
    Wikipedia page addresses may well change over time.
    For more obscure types, there currently will be no Wiki page found. We tag these cases as ScaleType = NotFound. These will change over time.

Recently I embarked upon the project of constructing Comet's Battle of Britain Trio, or a least that's what I've called it...Hurricane, Spitfire, and Messerschmitt. Just completed the last of the group, "Messerschmitt Me 109" (oz145), tweaked to represent an Emil, Bf109E4 [main pic, 003-007]. All three models are representative of Comet's dime-scale 16 inch wingspan offerings from that era, specifically 1941 in this case. This project has been a delight. The Emil is finished as an aircraft flown by Wilhelm Balthasar of 1/JG1. Thank you again, Steve and Mary, for your website, so many plans, and your inspiration.

Greetings, I keep seeing the name “Neal Green” in the comments section. I’ve gotten so I can infer his name by seeing a photograph of a model with an impeccable color scheme. Neal, your builds are delightful, and I love looking at them. The bare bones photographs are lessons in clean building technique. I don’t know if I should be inspired, or intimidated. Please, keep up the good work!

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
