Jack-O-Lantern (oz14286)
About this Plan
Jack-O-Lantern. Radio control sport model.
Quote: "With the 'frost on the pumpkin' and Halloween approaching, it occurred to me that Vroom Hilda (oz5902) and the original flying Bat (Nov 1981 RCM) needed a third for some spooky formation flying. So I whipped up the 'Jack-O-Lantern.'
The local lumberyard had some 2 x 4 ft sheets of 1 in thick foam insulation. That and some orange EconoKote was all I had to buy. The rest of the material was left over from previous projects.
The sketch shows the major information needed. I used a sliding tray mixer for the elevons. A Du-Bro or other mixer would work just as well. You may want to alter the fuselage dimensions to suit your equipment.
Of course, I expected the 'Jack-O-Lantern' to fly, but I was delighted to find how well it flew. It loops, rolls, point rolls (loosely defined), and in a 10 mph breeze, can make a near vertical descent. I often take it to the field for some 'out of season' flying because it's so much fun. I've even flown it off the water with a single float on the nose gear. Build one and 'spook' your flying buddies."

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
