Lazy Daisy (oz14261)
About this Plan
Lazy Daisy. Free flight power model.
Quote: "Fast and lazy could be the confusing description for 'Lazy Daisy.' A sort of split personality plane, Daisy's super fast on the climb, but a real lazy floater in the glide.
With ever increasing power available in new Half-A engines the modeler can take advantage of this power dividend by building his plane larger so that its glide will be better. But this can only be accomplished by selecting light wood.
We used a thin section in, the wing and stabilizer set at zero-zero. This produces a terrific glide. Despite its large size Lazy Daisy's climb is good. This is due to lightness, thin sections, zero-zero settings and a good engine. The model should be flown to produce a near vertical roll while climbing. This will allow the pull-out to develop into the glide. If the model is stalled the nose will drop and there will be considerable altitude lost and possibly no recovery. To remedy this add a little positive incidence to the wing and tilt the stabilizer to eliminate any stalling tendencies.
An eye dropper fuel tank was employed to save weight. Soft wood and tissue covering with minimum dope resulted in a large light model.
After selecting light wood cut out the fuselage sides and cement the bulkheads in place. Make sure that the firewalls are well glued. After the sides are cemented together the top and bottom can be added. The pylon bulkhead now glues in place along with the remaining formers. When dry cover with 1/16 sheet - note grain direction and take care here to see that all the seams are cemented well... "

It's really great to see another power duration model; it has been a long time! I had a great deal of difficulty printing the article because the pages are too long to fit on letter size paper. I finally managed to do it by reducing to 90 percent. I was not successful in printing a copy of the plan because the left side of the plan gets cut off regardless of what size I made it. If these things can be fixed, it would be much appreciated!Simon Blake - 19/12/2022
Simon, it sounds like both of these are issues at your end. Sorry, I know you don't want to hear that. I'd suggest you investigate you printer driver settings: try using 'fit to page' for the pages in the article file, as scaling is not critical just to read the words and look at the pictures. With the main plan, the file is complete, there is nothing missing. So maybe try printing on a different machine, or even better put that plan file on a USB stick and take it round to a local print service. Pay them for a good print of it.

Simon... Steve's assessment seems to be correct. I'm able to print the article on letter size paper right from its default setting, no adjustment needed. Also no problem printing the plan. Please take notice that the plan, as is, only presents a partial portion of the left wing (about two and 3/4th bays). That is how the plan is, and does not mean that the left portion of the plan is being cut off. I mention this just in case that is what is throwing you off a bit.

Okay, thanks. I managed to get it to print properly by opening Acrobat first and then opening the file and printing it from within Acrobat. I had forgotten that sometimes I have to do that. Usually I just print by clicking on the plan to open it and then by hitting Command/print.

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
