Quote: "Hi Steve and Mary, this is my first attempt to scan a plan - hope it is ok. I bought an original kit of the 1984 model 'der kleine uhu' on ebay. Cause it is by far the most sold of the whole series, I thought it might be nice for others to be able to find the plan on your site.
Since I will also trace the one (like the one from 1967) in freecad, I'd send you the dxf-file later if you want. Greetings from Germany, Tom"

Update 14/12/2022: Added CAD plan (all parts) in DXF format, thanks to Tom.

This version was a lot more pre-fabricated than the previous one, the front part being completely made of some plastic: ABS?
Also, the rear fuselage stick is not shown on the drawings, so a lot of guesswork or some measuring of the real thing is necessary.

If you look on sheet 2 of the drawing, on the item list(Stuckliste) / item 2 you will see the item / leitwerkstrager / keifer (pine/spruce) / 590mm x 10mm x 6mm. Best regards,

hello. today or tomorrow i'll give the plan of the fuselage of the 1976 model 'der kleine uhu' to outerzone. the fuselage is the same as the one of the 1984, except for minimal changes at the wing and the tail unit mount. since i have the plans of both and the original kit of the 1984 i was able to check this. i also redesigned the fuselage to be wooden and will also give the dxf-file with all parts for the uhu 1984 to outerzone. hope this helps you and then nothing more has to be guesstimated ;) cheers. tom
Tom - 12/12/2022
p.s. made a good high-res picture with all parts of the original kit [pic 005, also see supplement zipfile]. i'm sure steve and mary will upload this too. and this will then additionally help to determine how everything should be.
Tom - 12/12/2022
btw the design of this 'kleiner uhu' is by Dipl. Ing. Gunter B. Kirch in 1984.
Tom - 14/12/2022
Designer Gunter Kirch. Got it, thanks.

Sent a high-res photo [pic 007, also see supplement zipfile] of the complete laser-kit from the dxf-file for 'der kleine uhu' 1984 oz14245 to steve and mary - so everyone can see what he gets out of the data.
Tom - 15/12/2022
Two last hi-res pictures. 1) [pic 008] the wooden fuselage (76g) together with the original plastic fuselage (93g = 91g + 2g glue). the wooden fuselage is 14,2mm thick throughout - the plastic fuselage 14,5-14,9mm as they were not very good at making such plastic parts back then. 2) [pic 009] a picture of possible rc-components (together 23g) which can be used to convert the model to an rc-model while keeping the original dimensions and weight.
Tom - 18/12/2022
Awesome! Are there any informations on the thickness of the balsa?
Andre - 15/12/2024
Not sure what you mean. The CAD dxf file, yes it shows the thickness in mm (and material type) for each sheet. So eg the ribs are balsa 2mm, etc.
SteveWMD - 15/12/2024
Sorry i did not see it. It is inside. Thank you so much. Does anyone have drawings or stl of the plastic parts? Could model them if anybody has the dimensions …
Andre - 15/12/2024
detailed drawings of plastic fuselage parts are on the plan

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
