About this Plan

Ratatat. Control line rat racer model for .29 to .40 engines. Wingspan 29-3/8 in.

Quote: "Full Size plans! A Rat Racer for .29 to .40 size engines. Ratatat, by Frank Warburton.

If you wish to fly in events with easy rules, and only requiring simple quick to build planes then Rat Racing is for you. This rugged model is suitable for either local club events run over grass, or hard runway events, just by changing the wheels from 2 in.balloon to 1-1/2 in T/R.

Any motor you have to hand will do for this plan: I use a Fox .40, but any Fox 29; 35 or 40 will fit the engine bearer width shown and other motors are easily fitted, with slight adjustment to the spacing.

Highest speeds attained have been 98-100 mph with the Fox .40, fitted with a KK 9 x 7 nylon prop trimmed and twisted to 8 x 8 in, approx, and 104 mph with a Rossi 8 x 8 wood prop. The construction is quite straightforward and will present no problems. Good ratting!"

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
