Quote: "Frog Speedy. My introduction into this absorbing hobby when I was a kid in New Zealand back in the early 1950's was the rubber powered 'Frog' Senior series Raven (oz4177). New neighbours presented me with this great little kit as a Xmas gift and gave my younger brother a smaller Junior Speedy (oz6749) at the same time. I don't recall the eventual fate of either of those models. My brother wasn't overly enthused with model aircraft and eventually drifted away from them, but it got me started in the hobby and I have been deeply involved most ever since.
Having progressed to flying several r/c classes competitively over the years, about ten years ago I decided to downsize into the less hectic area of smaller sports models. It was around then that I happened upon the excellent 'House of Frog' website at www.houseoffrog.co.uk. I downloaded several of the plans featured there with view to maybe a nostalgic revisit sometime. I have now done that with a possibility of more in the future.
The first model undertaken was the 'blown up' Speedy as depicted here. The original little rubber powered model was less than 12" wingspan. My version has been increased to 38" span. Electrics and 'Depron' foam were the 'in' thing at the time and so this model comprised both. I had seen wings cut from plain flat foam sheet before, but couldn't get enthused and so the wing here reverted back to conventional film covered balsa construction, although the ailerons are cut from 6mm flat depron. The 4-function model was both easy to build and fly. It still exists among my fleet. Full build details are provided in the included magazine supplement pages.
The second model model built from the website was also 38" wingspan, but a more conventional film-covered balsa build version of the original 18" span Raven [pic 006] and was powered with a 1cc diesel engine. This one was a more agile performer and was eventually traded for a new engine I wanted. Unfortunately no usable plans have been retained for this model, although I have since prepared working drawings for a third r/c model based on another gem from the Frog Senior Series, and will intend to make a start on it soon...."

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
