Fokker Eindecker. Radio control 1/2A sport-scale model. Wingspan 36 in, wing area 249 sq in. For .049 engine and 2 channels.

Quote: "CONSTRUCTION: The first step in building your first model is to get help. The best tool you can have when attempting your first model is expert help when you have a question. You can find help at your local hobby store, a local RC Club, or just another modeler. But wherever you find it, expert help is the best tool a new modele can have.

FUSELAGE: There are 12 pieces of 3/16 square balsa strips in the 1/2 A Eindecker kit. Select six of the hardest 3/16 square strips, four for the fuselage stringers and two more for later use in the wing as leading edge and spar. To start lay down a piece of wax paper over the plans to prevent gluing the fuselage sides to the plans.

First lay out the upper and lower stringers using pins on each side of the sticks. You may have to partialy cut through the top stringer to make the upper bends. Reinforce the notched stringer with glue. Now select the softer 3/16 square strips and cut the vertical and diagonal fuselage pieces. once all the pieces are cut and fitted to the upper and lower stringers apply the glue. At this point cut up some waxpaper and place it over each glue joint.

Repeat the above procedure as above and build your second fuselage side directly over the first side. This assures both sides being reasonably the same. After dry remove the pins and wax paper, sand lightly to remove any glue bumps.

Now you will glue on the 1/32 plywood doublers. CAUTION: When glueing the plywwood on, make sure to make a left and right side. Cut the required amount of cross pieces. Now you are ready to glue the sides together. Use a square to check the fuselage alignment. NOTE: Ace R/C Inc makes two sets of 90° squares for model building.

Glue the tail post together and clamp with a clothespin, at the same time glue the 2 cross pieces located at the rear dowel. Use a small rubber band to hold tension on the cross members while drying. Use a square to check alignment. Inatall the remaining cross pieces and check for alignment with a square. Glue the firewall and former FA in place.

Cut out 1/16 balsa cowl planking slightly over size and trim after glueing. Lace up the landing gear and tail skid to the plywood, through holes as shown on the plans. Next glue the lacing and music wire with epoxy glue. Glue on the 3/16 x 3/16 x 1 in reinforcing pieces to the landing gear plywood. Next glue the landing gear assembly to the fuselage and the tail skid assembly in place, respectively, with epoxy glue.

COWL: We found that the plastic bottom from a one liter soda bottle makes an excellent cowl. You could cut one from a styrofoam block as Mike Leasure, the designer, suggests..."

ScaleType: This (oz13947) is a scale plan. Where possible we link scale plans to Wikipedia, using a text string called ScaleType.

If we got this right, you now have a couple of direct links (above) to 1. see the Wikipedia page, and 2. search Oz for more plans of this type. If we didn't, then see below.

    Notes:
ScaleType is formed from the last part of the Wikipedia page address, which here is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fokker_E.III
Wikipedia page addresses may well change over time.
For more obscure types, there currently will be no Wiki page found. We tag these cases as ScaleType = NotFound. These will change over time.

Joe Boshear and Bob Ecuador used to fly these up in New Jersey in the 1/2A Texaco scale event. Bob also had a Tiger Moth (we called it Dog Moth). This was back during the 8cc fuel allotment days. With the wing extended two bays, they really soared! Thanks for posting. I’ve seen the kits show up on eBay but they go for more than I’m willing to pay for a dozen die cut Ramrod ribs. If I start now, I should have one of these by the middle of next week!

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
