General: Anyone who decides to build a replica of this model should be aware that it is not a model based on the pattern 'two straight two wrong'. The construction as a scale model is very labor-intensive and makes demands that go beyond building from the kit. On the other hand, those experienced in model building from blueprints will not find too much difficulty, since all work can be carried out with the usual tools and without mysterious methods.
If the model is to be a replica of an original, it is advisable to first compare it with the present blueprint. The fuselage nose and cabin have been modified by their owners on some machines and therefore do not match the original plan.
Whether the model is built to be scale or semi-scale depends on the intended use and the ideas of the individual model maker. The fact that the pedals and sticks move with the rudders is a gag that can certainly be dispensed with. Since the scope here is almost unlimited, I would like to point out a few essential points.
The open cabin presents itself as an opening of about 20 x 20 cm and would be rather empty and unconvincing. Even with a semi-scale model, you shouldn't do without a simple, easy-to-install cab extension.
The case is similar with the landing flaps, since commercially available GRP or metal flaps are no more suitable for this model than wide tires would be on a Bugatti. The additional work of the flaps built according to the original is reflected in the optical beauty and balanced effectiveness more than paid for.
The trailing slats of the rudder, elevator and aileron, made of thin plywood, correspond to the structure of the original. The decisive factor for the choice of this design was not the faithfulness to the original, but the achievable high torsional rigidity with an astonishingly low overall weight.
A few things about working with the construction plan: When tracing through with a pencil and blue paper, the construction plan usually becomes unsightly, and the accuracy also leaves something to be desired. This work is done more cleanly, precisely and even faster with a punching needle. For example, cutouts and corners are transferred by piercing them and curves by puncturing at a distance of 5-6 mm. The individual points on the component are connected with a sharp pencil and are ready to be cut out.
You should also consider that the transfer of components or assemblies in the simplest way and without details on thin and cheap transparent paper is very advantageous. The plan remains as it is and is not blocked for other work by fixing and covering on the building board..."
