About this Plan

Zlin Akrobat. Control line scale model.

Quote (google-translated from the Spanish review text): "The flying models of REPAL CL flying model of the ZLIN Z-226A.

Readers will need no introduction to the most famous aerobatic plane of recent times. Thanks to this plan donated by REPAL, SA de Gonzalo de Córdoba 17, Madrid, the amateur interested in this plane can build a beautiful CL model.

FUSELAGE: This consists of ten frames. Numbers 1, 2 and 3 are joined by two 8 x 8 mm beech slats that serve as a base. Attention! Check if the distance between these slats and between the 1st and 2nd frames correspond to the engine you intend to use - on the drawing, a McCoy 19 (approximately 3.5 cc). This set is joined to the rest of the frames by the lateral plating of 3 mm light balsa. In its upper part, except for the one corresponding to the cabin, it has a 10 mm balsa plate, to give it the profiled shape indicated on the plan.

TAIL PLANES: Structured drift and plated on both sides with 1 mm balsa. Rudder, in the plane cut in light raft of 10 mm, in order to gain weight can be done in a similar way to the drift. It is very convenient to leave an inclination to the right as indicated on the plan.
Stabilizer and elevator: cut from 8mm light raft; 5 tenths aluminum tab. It is preferable to use hinges of those used in RC, rather than the classic nylon tape, to give a better finish.

WING: Formed by 18 ribs cut in 2 mm raft, except the 'B' cut in 5 mm raft. 5 x 12 mm profiled balsa leading edge, double 5 x 3 mm pine stringer and an auxiliary 5 x 12 mm pine stringer, gear support. The trailing edge is formed by the veneer junction of both surfaces in 1.5mm balsa. Place the guide tubes for the control cables on the left half-wing and place 20 grams of counterweight lead on the right marginal edge.

The bellcrank, mounted on a 3 mm plywood support plate, located between the 4th and 5th frames. Landing gear basically formed with 3 mm steel wire and veco B-l wheels (for scale purposes, simulate the fairings and shock absorbers, as well as the tail wheel).

Cab molded in 0.8 acetate or constructed of acetate on an aluminum frame (more work, but better looking).

FINISH: A model is nothing without a good finish and painting that require a good background preparation. The color scheme is included in the plan."

    ScaleType: This (oz13813) is a scale plan. Where possible we link scale plans to Wikipedia, using a text string called ScaleType.

    If we got this right, you now have a couple of direct links (above) to 1. see the Wikipedia page, and 2. search Oz for more plans of this type. If we didn't, then see below.

    ScaleType is formed from the last part of the Wikipedia page address, which here is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zlín_Z_526
    Wikipedia page addresses may well change over time.
    For more obscure types, there currently will be no Wiki page found. We tag these cases as ScaleType = NotFound. These will change over time.
    Corrections? Use the correction form to tell us the new/better ScaleType link we should be using. Thanks.

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
