I took a liking to this design when I was a teenager some 60 years ago and purchased the kit. Unfortunately the canopy was damaged and partially for this reason I have never made the original model.
I like scaling up or down designs and when I found a suitable larger canopy recently of the correct shape I decided to build an enlarged version [main pic, 004-009]. Downloading the file from Outerzone was an easy task getting the plan copied and enlarged to 48”span for a K&B 28. At that size I thought I may as well add small flaps as well as carbon fibre skids under the wing tips to reduce some friction landing on the undersurface of the wing. I also incorporated a weight box to adjust the wing tip weight and made a short tongue muffler to provide ground clearance. I constructed a dolly undercarriage so I wouldn’t require hand launching. The model is now finished ready for its first flight.
I have just acquired a Vac forming machine so I will be able to make a new canopy for the original 26” kit version and build it next year. So much fun building these old designs.

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
