About this Plan

KK Pacer. Control line class B team racer model.

Quote: "The Pacer is Keil Kraft's answer to modeller's requests for a class 'B' team racer design of the same high quality as the Ranger (oz1530). Similar construction methods have been featured, but externally the PACER differs considerable. Main recognition points of this distinctive model are straight tapered flying surfaces, radial type cowl and bubble canopy. No less than seven engine installations are shwn on the plan, plus full details for making a 15 or 30 cc fuel tank. Model becomes an 'A' racer when fitted with ED 2.46 or Elfin 2.49 powerplant."

Quote: "The PACER is a rugged, easy-to-build team racer which complies with the SMAE Class B specifications (125 sq inches minimum wing area, 2.51 - 5.30 cc engine capacity and 30 cc maximum tank capacity). Even if this is your first contriliner, no building or flying difficulties should be experienced - providing you follow these instructions carefully.

As with all other Keil Kraft power kits, several alternative engine installtions have been detailed on the plan. It is essential that you decide on the powerplant before starting the construction. The bearer cut-outs marked on F4-F8 are for the Amco BB 3.5 and should another motor be used, the appropriate bearer and fuel tank cut-outs most be flush. In the DC 350 installation, the planking should be trimmed traced on to these formers (see left of plan). A rectangular hole should also be cut in former F7 (F6 case of Elfin 2.49 version) to accommodate the fuel tank (again see plan). In some cases, bearers are positioned over the mounting the bearers will stand 'proud' of lugs - the lower half of the cowl being detachable. The ED 2.46 and Elfin 2.49 (both Class A) are suitable powerplants and a PACER fitted with either of those motors (and a 15 cc tank) is eligible for Class A team racing.

Wheels, cement, tissue paste, clear dope, thinners and a soft dope brush should be obtained from your local dealer. A pair of long nosed pliers and plenty of used razor blades (or a KK modelling knife) are also required. Pin the plan to the building board with drawing pins and prevent the parts from sticking to it by building over the top of greaseproof paper. Carefully separate the pieces of strip with a razor blade - DO NOT break them free. Use a straight edge as a guide when cutting along straight lines on the balsa sheet..."

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
