This model was designed for rubber power, 0,33cc (cox .020) or electric motor. In the plan is visible a reduction geared motor like the Graupner T03 (1,5 volt), note out of axis hooked shaft and the battery. Battery and motor were mounted side by side in a tray on the nose to facilitate CG balance. Considering the Whole engine is outcentered from the center model axis a short rubber thread acts as an elastic coupling joint and probably save the delicate reduction gear from ground hitting. Pit

I have never seen a drawing like that before... an electric motor along with a rubber 'driveshaft'. Makes me think of trying to create a self-winding rubber model, along with large carved prop, if you see what I mean :)

I see what you mean Steve, and it was already made. In order to convert a rubber motor model to electric and mantain the same slow flying attitude you need a reduction geared light motor in order to use original large high pitch prop. The simple way is to shorten the rubber tread and make it winding continuously by common electric motor. I remember an article on the past, today contest rubber bands are higly priced and difficult to obtain. This is the "ratio" modern behind modern hibryd idea. Why not try with an I.C. engine to rotate the rubber band and an electric motor used as dynamo producing energy for the rc components...

Notes
