About this Plan
Flat Albert. All-sheet profile free flight biplane model. Wingspan 24 in, for .020 engines.
Direct submission to Outerzone.
Quote: "As promised, here is Dave Thornburg's Flat Albert, a sport .020 powered free flight biplane from the July 1996 issue of Model Aviation magazine. It's a cute little model that deserves a place in your Thornburg library. The original plans were on a single magazine page at half-size, and the builder was expected to use a copier to enlarge the plan to full size. Because this generally results in fat and highly pixelated lines, what I have done is to model the plane full size in CAD, and then re-create a new full-sized version of Dave's drawing with clean lines while preserving his title block and notes.
Attached are the full-sized plans in pdf format, and scans of the original build article from MA magazine. The article has just the right amount of down home 'aw shucks' humor from Dave, all necessary build instructions and lots of tips on wood selection and flight trimming. I hope you like it. Kind regards,"

This Flat Albert name must be a typical thornburgian joke on Fat Albert, a C-130 supporting the US Navy Blue Angels aerobatic team. This was taken off the team a while ago, but she was painted Angels blue and white top, and she did her own show routine taking off at full power with Rocket Assist (RATO). It must have been a sight to behold, together with a racket straight outtahell :-))https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mtONDYOdao&ab_channel=KNIGHTFLIGHTVIDEO
Thar she blows! Wait for the landing too, and remember to wave your hand to that proud crewperson [got to stay PC, right? :-)) ] flying Old Glory during taxi! For a time the pilot was a female officer, I guess with some big brass ovaries! Having all that fun and getting the DOD paying her on top!!!

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
