I'm surprised no one has commented on the "Stunt Queen". I built one about 6 years ago after hankering after one since I was a kid (about 60 years ago! No suitable engine back then). I wish I hadn't waited so long - it's quite the nicest unflapped stunter I've ever flown, smooth and very manouevrable - it can achieve square loops with only slightly larger corner radii than a flapped model. Admittedly I powered mine with a 1960s Veco 19 so the model isn't encumbered with a lump like a Frog 500 and is probably not truly representative of an in-period version.

About 70 years back my dad built a SQ. I always remember it. I was 6 at the time. Now for nostalgic reasons I want to build the model. I have the plans but there is a warning about reading the instructions as it is not a conventional build. Can anybody help in this regard? Please. Many thanks, Brian- South Africa.

Probably because you have to cut each rib on dotted line in order to lay flat the wing on plan and build the upper part, then reglue the bottomed portion of each rib and complete the wing out of the plan.

Thanks Pit, quite fortunate I mnaged to aquire an original KK Stunt Queen kit recently. Keen to start the build. Irvine 25 OK or would a .39 be better? Tank size might indicate the .25 would be better.

Hi Martin, modern engines are more powerful than yesterday. Consider that Yulon had 0.39 bhp, Frog 500 had 0.37 to 0.43 bhp depending by the mixture. Irvine 25 Stunt (1992) had 0.80 bhp. So quite the double bhp of the orginal designed engines. Considering the model was an old school "high speed stunt" the Irvine 25 could be too much. But read this blog: http://controlline.org.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?printertopic=1&t=12301&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0&finish_rel=-10000

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
