Simple Sailman Electric. Radio control glider model, for electric power.
The original Simple Sailman (oz12472) was a 1977 Dave Banham sailplane design, kitted by Bowman Models. This here is a later redrawn version, modified and redrawn by John Torrance for electric power using a brushless outrunner.

Quote: "Hi Outerzone, This covid thing is giving me some time to burn. I read the article on the above plane in RCME and found the plans on your website. These drawings were based on dyeline prints of old and unfortunately there was some stretch and distortion on the drawings, typical of the plans of that time. This required sorting, so I decided to redraw the whole thing on CAD and revise the fuse to take 38mm electric outrunners. I also revised the airfoil to a more modern AG-35 type. There are structural changes as I have my own preferred building ways. Anyone wanting the original can refer to the previous plan for original construction as building is a personal thing to me. All care taken with the plans, and the usual conditions apply to use. Attached are the new drawings if you wish to publish them. Regards John Torrance, Bannister, Western Australia"
Update 24/08/2021: Replaced this plan with a revised version, thanks to JohnTorrance. This fixes a minor issue on sheet 3 (details re washout).
Quote: "Revised tip wing plan for the Simple Sailman sheet #3. Reason is I did not put the original tip washout on the plan (dumb error!). It may not need it with the AG-35 wing profile, but I usually put washout in all my gliders as it makes them a lot more forgiving. I still have vivid memories of an F3b glider with Eppler 195 section tip stalling into the ground just before the nationals here in the 70's. Much fixing required to compete the next day."
Update 24/08/2021: Added instructions. These are a copy of the instructions from the original kit (oz12472), but will be useful here to help understand the construction process.

This one looks very interesting, the notes to the original design mention increasing the polyhedral for better rudder response but reading through the text of the construction details and having a peek at the rather hard to read plans I can't work out what the polyhedral of the original was .... is the increase necessary with the new aerofoil and has it been changed from the original design? Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
