My congratulations on your very good website. For those of us who also like to build and who are passionate about the old timer models the site is a tremendous help, searchable. I have enclosed some pictures of the first flight of the Competitor of KeilKraft adapted for RC [see more pics 004, 005, 006].

Hello Steve - First, thank you and all who help you for this most amazing resource. Checking the site for what's new is one of the daily rituals I look forward to most each day. Here are photos [see more pics 007, 008, 009] of the Competitor I built from the plans I downloaded from this site. Beautiful model and a wonderful flyer I must add.

Hi Steve, this is the Competitor newly kitted by a local producer, parts are laser cut [more pics 010]. This bird has a lot of good memories for Iranian old modelers.

Having recently had some really enjoyable days with this KK conversion poddling around the skies I thought I'd share this with you [pic 011]. I acquired a tissue covered Competitor on ebay, recovered it with Solite. It has a Turnigy park 250 motor 2300kv motor paired to a 12 amp esc and a 800 mah 2 cell lipo. With a 9 by 6 slow fly the climb out at 3/4 throttle is quite something. With 2 3g servos and a spektrum AR6300 park rx I still had to add a 5g of sticky lead to the tail to get the balance. It may be of interest to some to see that this plane only needs an elevator on one side.

Hello Steve - Two photos of my KK Competitor built in 2018 [main pic, 012]. Rubber powered (as intended!) but with R/C assist using a sub-micro Rx/servo module (70 mAh LiPo) on rudder only to steer away from the trees during the glide. It has a 10" prop, and is covered with Japanese tissue and nitrate dope. The added mass of the R/C system is negligible on a model of this size. An excellent flyer 'natch...

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
