About this Plan

Ober Inspectoer. Radio control model designed for FPV with twin boom layout. For electric power with AXI 2220-12 motor. Uses composite construction. Wingspan 1329 mm.

Direct submission to Outerzone.

Quote: "Dear Steve, I was asked by the FPV-Flyers from FPV-Treff.de to create a good flying double boomed racer, that has no issues with greed oscillations as a lot of small FPV racers have. It should carry tons of weight / FPV-Equipment. The camera should be carried at the nose of one boom and be exchangeable with a piece of foam CG-neutral. See picture what comes up and was build… A place where the story might end,…BUT:

The feedback (flying on rails with no stall!) from the FPV-speed guys was so good that I got sleepless ;-) Always thinking about what can we go further? The Name “Inspectör”, which is w German slang / creation for “Inspektor” was raised to “Ober-Inspetör”. The foam plane had 1,1m span it was enlarged to 1,3m. It took 4 month to build all the models and mouldings and we started with 3 prototypes of what 2 are perfect flyers now. The forward swept wing and fins and the Pink-Panther Inspector (Clouseau) in the cockpit gave the plane a unique design which is garnished with very good flying behavior.

There is only a short film sequence when I changed from 4000 3 s Lipo to a 3000 4s but see Michael flying his perfect yellow fellow through the Maiden. Its fast and slowly and always remains stable.

“The best flights are still in front of us”

Cheers Matthias"

Note the main planfile here is a single PDF file with 8 sheets. This serves as a quick overview. For a more detailed (itemised) view, see the supplement file "named_sheets.zip" for the same plan, but here each plan sheet has a title of material and size. Then of course there is the full CAD file download in DXF (plus STP) format. Steve.

I have learned in a short time to expect good things when I see this name, and once again I was not disappointed. A fine design, and thank you for the STP files. I saw a smooth belly landing in one of the videos, may they all be alike :-)

mui gratia miguel ;-)

Gesundheit, my pre-google-translator friend :-))
Keep designing and flying and forget the linguistics ;-)

Matthias - Any chance you would produce a moulded fuselage & booms of that for sale?
Karel Lootens - 06/08/2021
Hi Karel, no, due the work is very extensive, the main fuselage is buld from 7! layers, 6 of 55gr glas and 1 in the middle of Aramid, the booms are made from 5 layers or 55gr, and you can only do so intensive work for yourself, no one would value the work in money. What I can offer ist the used master moulds for building your own moulding. Or you use 3D data for milling your moulds directly. Hope you understand, cheers Matze.

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
