About this Plan
ROG. Simple rubber sport model.
Quote: "ROG, by CP Moody. This little stick model is capable of doing up to 90 seconds if proper adjustment is applied and a hand-carved propeller is used with a free-wheeling assembly.
It was conceived one Sunday morning when a flying buddy of ours dropped in on leave from Uncle Sam's Army. Both of us had a fine time horsing around with this simple ship. You too can have hours of flying fun after spending only a little time building if you follow the simple plan at the left.
CONSTRUCTION: The wing is made from 1/16 sheet balsa and is sanded on both sides to smooth the wood and to obtain a slight airfoil. The main airfoil is produced by cementing the wing panels to the pylon.
Use scrap fuselage stock for the pylon and make a sandwich as shown. Cut a 'V' notch at the top to provide for mounting the wing panels at the required dihedral.
The wing panels can be cemented in place at this time which will form the proper dihedral angle and airfoil. Put this assembly away to dry.
The tail surfaces, stab and rudder are made from 1/16 sheet and are sanded as with the wing. Both halves of the stab can be marked using a single pattern by marking one side at a time.
1/4 x 1/2 in hard stock is used for a fuselage stick and is cut and tapered as shown. There is little complication in this assembly so you need only follow the instructions on the plan.
An 8 Paulowina propeller makes an ideal propulsion unit. Aside from, the neat efficiency of this type of prop, it is also rugged enough to take a considerable amount of abuse.
A hand-carved prop will work better because of its lighter weight. We tried one with hinges so that the blades folded back after the power ran out and it gave increased performance. Indoors it took a little too much abuse.
The removable pylon is mounted with rubber bands and can be slid back and forth to obtain flight adjustments. We suggest that you experiment with the amount of power to find the amount that suits your taste for performance. The more you use, the hotter the ship and the more difficult it is to trim. Start with one loop of rubber and work up from there."

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
