Amigo II Magic (oz12998)
About this Plan
Amigo II. Radio control glider model. Wingspan 2.5m.
The original Graupner Amigo II (oz4428) dates back to 1966, and was a free flight plan at 80 inch wingspan. This here is a modern plan, drawn up from scratch in CAD, showing an enlarged version of the Amigo II, for RC (and with optional electric power pod) at 2.5 m wingspan.
Direct submission to Outerzone.
Quote: "Dear Steve, the Amigo II was always my favorite and I grow up with this plane and during the time, now over 40 years of modelling, I had a few of them. They are the best 'thermal self-searchers', just let 'em go and they climb out! So the idea came up to rebuild it with new aerodynamics and as I often did in a magic-Version 125%! I developed a special engine attachment with good profile, so you nearly don't feel it and put a Leopard LC250-25 _ 9T 6pol 3750KV inside driving a 11x6 GM propeller. I flew it now a few times and it is 'forbidden good', trying to chase for thermal upwind, let the plane go and do nothing, it’s a free flyer and is always sucked away by up-winds. I also use it for FPV flying and build a second hatch to exchange when wanted. So as I always say: 'The best flights ever are still in front of us'. Matthias"
Note the main planfile here is a single PDF file with 17 sheets. This serves as a quick overview. For a more detailed (itemised) view, see the supplement file "named_sheets.zip" for the same plan, but here each plan sheet has a title of material and size. Then of course there is the full CAD file download in DXF format. Steve.

Dear Matthias,
is there a STL file for the shell of the engine mount? It really looks so smooth designed ideal for 3d printing
Kalle - 04/04/2024
Yes there is, Steve can forward my email adress to you or He can place the download file here, thought is was already, Matze
Matthias Möller - 03/10/2024
I don't think we have that STL file here. Have forwarded the email address. We are happy to host that file here, no problem :)

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
