About this Plan

P-51 Mustang. Control line profile model.

Direct submission to Outerzone.

Quote: "Dear Steve and Mary, wishing that all things are going and running very well for the couple, with health, peace and success.

This time we have here a plan for a Hobbylandia 049 classic kit from the '60s, the P-51 Mustang 049 nicknamed "Mustanguinho" (small Mustang) in Portuguese.

This was a kit designed and made by Mr Morimoto's Hobby company, Hobbylandia, from Rio de Janeiro in the late '60s. It was very popular plane during the '60s and '70s for its simplicity, modest cost and good flying characteristics.

This one is a small profile model with curved (undercambered) balsa sheet wings that translates to a nice and stable flight. It was designed around radial back tanked half-A engines like Cox Baby Bee's 049, Cox 049 Black Widows, Enya 06 and other engines with integral fuel tanks.

The fuselage can be easily modified to accept radial mounting engines like Cox Tee Dees, Black Widows and on.

The original kit at the time didn't have a true full size plan, just a building instruction.

This very nice plan was vectorized and made in CAD by Mr Sérgio Daeuble using an unbuilt kit as a pattern to make this full size plan. Sérgio Daeuble was and is making a fantastic work of rescuing vintage and almost forgotten Brazilian model plans and planes that otherwise would be lost in time. Thanks Sérgio!"

ScaleType: This (oz12813) is a scale plan. Where possible we link scale plans to Wikipedia, using a text string called ScaleType.

If we got this right, you now have a couple of direct links (above) to 1. see the Wikipedia page, and 2. search Oz for more plans of this type. If we didn't, then see below.

    Notes:
ScaleType is formed from the last part of the Wikipedia page address, which here is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_P-51_Mustang
Wikipedia page addresses may well change over time.
For more obscure types, there currently will be no Wiki page found. We tag these cases as ScaleType = NotFound. These will change over time.

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
