Looks like a great plane. Now, if someone would translate the article, that would be wonderful.Bob Blubaugh - 05/12/2020
To me Water Ranger is the same of Cleopatra published on Model Builder July 1978. What do you think Steve?

Excellent. That's the one. Cleopatra in MB, Aug 1977. Actually, looking closely at the pics, I think the MB plan is the first version (mark 1) and he later lowered the horizontal stab, but raised the engine nacelles higher up for better water clearance, and that makes this here second (mark 2) version. But it's pretty much the same plane. Good call.

To see that MB article (which is in English) see Mary's page at https://rclibrary.co.uk/title_details.asp?ID=2508

I noticed the resemblance to Cleopatra as soon as I saw it. There are more changes than just the lowered stab and raised nacelles. The wing planform on the Cleopatra has a straight leading edge , with the trailing edge outboard of the nacelles tapering forward as it goes towards the wingtips. The wing planform of the Water Ranger reverses this, with the trailing edges straight while the leading edge outboard of the nacelles tapers backwards as it goes towards the tips. The outside floats appear longer (reaching lower) on the Water Ranger, and their forward shape is rounded, while on Cleopatra they are square. There are some other minor differences.

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
