About this Plan

T-28D. Control line profile stunt model.

Quote: "Filling the niche between small beginner models and competition types, this .09-powered profile is ideal for the sport flier. T-28D, by Paul Schaaf.

This model of the North American T-28D was designed to fill a gap which I believe exists in U-Control. At one extreme we have the .049-powered learner models and, at the other, we have the super contest-stunt designs, but we don't see very many of the intermediate type for the Sunday Flier. After we learn to fly U-Control with the smaller models, the next challenge - and step up - should be the medium-powered model which has stunt capabilities. The T-28D is such a plane.

It has a symmetrical cross-section, built-up wing, is powered by an .09 engine, and flies great on 50 ft lines. Because it is light, an .09 engine with a 7 x 4 pitch prop really moves it around. The RC-type control horn on the stabilizer is nylon with four positions for the pushrod; the farthest one out from the stabilizer is for the learner, and the nearest one for the expert. Begin with the outermost hole, then use the intermediate settings as you gain flying experience. The plane can do any stunt you can handle. It is sturdy, economical to build and fly. It can be decorated in the exciting military colors. Give it a try. You'll enjoy it.

Fuselage: The body is cut from 1/2 in balsa sheet. Make the cutouts for the stabilizer, wing and engine mounting, as seen on the plan. Add the 1/8 plywood doublers to both sides of the profile fuselage. Note that the one on the right side has the cutout to receive the motor. Drill the 1/4 in dia hole for the wood dowel that supports the front landing gear strut. Sandpaper and file (use a round file or sandpaper wrapped around a thin dowel) the hole as noted on the plans..."

    ScaleType: This (oz12554) is a scale plan. Where possible we link scale plans to Wikipedia, using a text string called ScaleType.

    If we got this right, you now have a couple of direct links (above) to 1. see the Wikipedia page, and 2. search Oz for more plans of this type. If we didn't, then see below.

    Notes:
    ScaleType is formed from the last part of the Wikipedia page address, which here is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_T-28_Trojan
    Wikipedia page addresses may well change over time.
    For more obscure types, there currently will be no Wiki page found. We tag these cases as ScaleType = NotFound. These will change over time.

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
