Astron Falcon (oz12328)
About this Plan
Astron Falcon. Rocket glider model. Boost glider.
Quote: "Estes Industries Inc. Astron Falcon. Rocket Glider. High climbing rocket ascent - smooth, flat-gliding return. Only $1.00. Recommended engines: 1/2A6-2, A5-2, B4-2."
Quote: "Astron Falcon is my #1 favorite rocket glider. Unfortunately because it ejects the rocket motor at the top of its flight it would be illegal to fly today. When I flew it in the past with a B size motor it would go almost OOS and then make circles all the way to the ground. Posting it for nostalgia only. Use light balsa and will probably have to use some clay on the nose or the tail."

User commentsI see that you’ve recently posted the Estes Falcon plan. Here are a couple of pictures of a Falcon that I build a few years back [main pic, 005,006]. Feel free to use on the site.

What are the dimensions for the sheet balsa before the parts are cut out? I want to know to simplify the scaling.
Thanks : )

It's a 3 inch wide sheet of balsa. The plan is full size. You can measure details like this for yourself, using your PDF reader. For help on how to check the scaling of pdf plans, see our Knowledgebase article #106: Checking the scaling of a PDF plan

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
